I had reviewed many options before we booked our first trip to Curacao. Would we go in a hotel, did we want an apartment or maybe even an airbnb space? The choice in Curacao is pretty extensive. And while I love a good hotel from time to time, I wanted something else for our trip to Curacao. So when I got a tip from Ivonne from  My footprints  to have a look at the apartments from Sjaak and Marcel  Villa L’Orangerie I was quickly convinced.

To be entirely honest: I didn’t do a really good check, like I normally would. I was in a busy period at work and I kind of assumed ‘it would be ok’. Completely against my normal – slightly control freak – nature. But as it turns out those decisions can sometimes be really good! The contact I had with Sjaak and Marcel before arriving was good. Quick communication and responding to emails, clear instructions  and so that promised good things.

They have lots of extra services to make your arrival as pleasant as can be. We didn’t know how late we would be arriving so they offered the service to do some grocery shopping beforehand. That way at least we knew we would have bread, butter, eggs and – most essential – some wine to celebrate our arrival.

Since we also had a rental car, they gave us instructions on how to get to the appartment and we found it without any problems. It’s only about a ten minute ride from the airport anyway. The appartment itself is situated in Julianadorp.

Julianadorp is somewhat removed from all the actions. So if you’re thinking of going wild every night in Willemstad, you might want to find a more central location. But if you have a car and that is a good idea anyway and like a quiet spot than Julianadorp is an excellent choice.

The reception was great. Marcel and Sjaak told us all the ins and outs of the apartment and we were pleasantly surprised. There are three apartments which don’t really vary all that much. They are all very spacious, completely stocked and clean. I don’t think we have ever before been in an appartment where we had nothing to complain about. Really fantastic.  There is an alarm in the apartment, a safety box in the bedroom (big enough to also store a laptop and a big camera for instance), a large fridge and a wonderfully large terrace with a dining table and two lazy chair and the list goes on. O and of course good working Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, your own parking space and affordable prices.

The service they offer doesn’t stop there though. When we asked if we could rent snorkling equipment somewhere we got theirs to use. Beach towels are always the bulky things in your suitcase but you can leave them home  as you can rent them for a small fee there too. Plus you get fresh ones whenever you want.

Want to know where to get a decent meal? They will help you wherever they can.

So if you’re going to Curacao I can highly recommend the apartments of Villa L’Orangerie. Make sure you book in time as there are only three and they are popular.
